Getting the fuel you need after a long day in the saddle will likely be one of the most important elements of your alpine road cycling holiday. Here at Ello Vélo we’re experienced in planning nutritiously balanced meals for your pre-ride energy and your post-ride recovery. To give you an idea of how you’ll eat during your trip, we’ve compiled a sample menu, which we’ll work with you to customise to suit your cycling group.

Buffet Lunch Ideas

Fresh baguette, butter & chutney
Cheese & charcuterie platter
Salad – options include nicoise / vegetarian nicoise, Greek salad or zucchini and fennel salad served with parmisan and lemon vinaigrette or rainbow coleslaw
Hot Dish – options include punchy Mediterranean pasta, quiche Lorraine or cheese and onion quiche, caramelised red onion chutney sausage rolls or burrito with beans, rice, sour cream and spicy salsa

Buffet Dinner Ideas

Fresh baguette and butter

Traditional French beef bourguignon (or mushroom bourguignon) with chive mash and a fresh seasonal green salad
Lasagna (or vegetable lasagne) with garlic bread and a fresh seasonal green salad
Coq au vin (or vegetarian alternative) with sautéed potatoes, dressed green beans and a fresh seasonal salad
Chilli (or a vegetarian alternative) with rice or jacket potatoes and a fresh seasonal green salad
Spaghetti bolognaise (or a vegetarian alternative) with herbed peas and a fresh seasonal salad

Chocolate mousse with creme fraiche and a fresh fruit platter
Berry meringue roulade and a fresh fruit platter
Classic tarte tatin and a fresh fruit platter
White chocolate and raspberry cheesecake and a fresh fruit platter
Crepe suzette and a fresh fruit platter
