Each year Morzine hosts a number of amateur road cycling events, participation in which has grown significantly over recent years. There’s always a great atmosphere at these events, with road closures and refreshment stops along the way. If you can’t make one of these events, following the established route is also a great idea. Here’s our favourite…
This route takes a loop around some of the most famous climbs in our region and involves over 2,200m of climbing in total. From your base at Hotel du Lac you’ll descend into Montriond, continuing down the valley in a fast descent through St Jean d’Aulps and down to La Vernaz, where we leave the main roads and begin the undulating climb through some beautiful alpine village to Bellevaux and beyond. The Col de Jambaz at 1,027m ticks your first climb off the list before a descent into Mieussy and on to Thonon.
This is a suggested route and we’ve a team of experienced, local experts on hand to help you plan a route that suits the objectives of your group. You’ll be spoilt for choice in the Haute Savoie!
No local Sportive would be complete without a climb of the Col de Joux Plane from Samoëns and you can bask in the glory of your efforts during the fast ride down into Morzine. Baring a small climb back to the hotel, your work here is done.
