Start your Morzine road cycling trip with one of the most scenic and rewarding trips in the area.
From Hotel du Lac you’ll descend into Montriond, crossing the valley floor to begin the first climb of the day in Essert Romand. The 7km route that follows includes several challenging hairpin turns with stunning views to distract you en-route. Your arrival at the Col is punctuated by a refreshment break in a characterful local bar.
Your descent into Taninges is fun and fast, while the long, flat route to Samoëns is excellent fun. Make the most of it, as you’re about to tackle one of the most famous climbs in Tour de France history – the epic Col de Joux Plane. Take a moment to catch your breath and enjoy the views from the 1,691m altitude before another fast descent into Morzine.
This is a suggested route and we’ve a team of experienced, local experts on hand to help you plan a route that suits the objectives of your group. You’ll be spoilt for choice in the Haute Savoie!
Should your legs have it in them, extend your route back to our base by tackling the challenging 12.1km route d’Avoriaz, with plenty of switchbacks to keep you busy as you ascend to 1800m. From the Col, your route home is a swift descent through les Lindarets and the Goat Village back to Hotel du Lac. A cold beer and a refreshing dip in Lac de Montriond await.
